Information Sent Through Forms
A name, phone number, or address entered in a search box is sent to the third-party provider that supplies the result. Butte County Residents Directory does not keep a copy of those search terms on its own servers. A message sent to the contact address contains whatever the sender chooses to include and is used to answer that message.
Automatic Technical Logs
The hosting service may record an IP address, browser details, viewed pages, and time stamps in ordinary server logs. Those records can be reviewed in aggregate to maintain the pages and understand general use. Basic analytics or advertising measurement may use cookies or similar tools when enabled.
How Information Supports the Service
Technical data helps operate the reference, diagnose faults, measure broad traffic, and improve its content. Visitor lists are not sold, and individual user profiles are not built from these records.
External Resources
Pages link to California and Butte County record portals, library collections, archives, and sponsored search tools. Each outside service sets its own privacy terms. Those terms govern information submitted on the linked service, including information entered into sponsored results.
Who May Process It
Hosting and technical providers may process the server-log information needed to run the pages. Analytics or advertising partners may receive the automatic data described above where those services operate. Information is disclosed in response to valid legal process when required, and otherwise is not deliberately shared.
Security Measures
The pages use an encrypted connection, and log data is retained only for the purposes described above. There are no visitor accounts, so the service does not hold a password or user profile that could be exposed.
Visitors Under 18
Butte County Residents Directory is intended for adults and is not directed to children. It does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If a minor has sent information, use the Contact page so the service can review and delete it.
Your California Privacy Choices
California's Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the CPRA, is codified at Civil Code §1798.100 et seq. and may provide access, correction, deletion, and sale or sharing opt-out rights for covered personal information. Because this service keeps very little, a request usually concerns the contact mailbox or technical logs. Use the Contact page to ask.
The California Public Records Act, Government Code §§7920.000-7931.000, governs many state, county, and city records reached through these links. Those government records remain with their custodians. A request to remove or correct an official record must go to the office that created or holds it, not to this private reference.
